MHC-class-II are expressed in a subpopulation of human neural stem cells… What?

5 August 202527 July 2023 by neurowanderer

Expression of major histocompatibility antigens class-2 (MHC-II) under non-inflammatory conditions is not usually associated with the nervous system.

A matter of identity – Phenotype and differentiation potential of human somatic stem cells

5 August 20253 March 2023 by neurowanderer

Human somatic stem cells with neural differentiation potential can be valuable for developing cell-based therapies, including treatment of birth-related defects, while avoiding issues associated with cell reprogramming.

Cord Blood Lin−CD45− Embryonic-Like Stem Cells Are a Heterogeneous Population That Lack Self-Renewal Capacity

3 March 2023 by neurowanderer

Human umbilical cord blood stem cells (HUCBSC) are potentially a very important source of stem cells for tissue repair, as their use would circumvent the ethical issues involved with embryonic stem cells.

Human umbilical cord stem cells for regenerative neurology: generation of neural-derived progenitors

5 August 202523 September 2022 by neurowanderer

In conclusion, this work suggests that the cord blood haematopoietic and nonhaematopoietic stem cell fractions are unable to generate neural progenitors, and should be avoided for neurotransplant therapy proposes at this stage.
